Robert Cosby Jr., son of “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Mary Cosby, has died. He was 23 years old.
A Salt Lake City Police Department spokesperson confirmed to Page Six that Robert was found dead on Monday evening when officers “responded to an overdose call that turned into a death investigation.”
Mary’s representative was not immediately available to Page Six for comment.
His death comes after Robert’s estranged wife, Alexiana Smokoff, filed for divorce a few months earlier.
The former lovers reportedly got married at a courthouse in Utah in August 2022, and their marriage was a storyline in Season 4 of “RHOSLC” as they kept their nuptials a secret from Mary.
The Bravo show also highlighted Robert and Alexiana’s alleged drug use, including Season 6, which was filmed in early 2025.
In one episode, Robert told Mary that he was “at a standstill” in his recovery after finishing a 30-day rehab program.
“I’m not in that dark place, but, like, it’s still there, if that makes any sense,” he said, explaining that it’s challenging to not do anything ritualistically anymore.
Later that season, it was revealed that Robert had fallen ill again.
Robert also has a history of run-ins with the law, which Mary highlighted during the Season 6 “RHOSLC” reunion in January.
During the episode, the Bravo celebrity emotionally revealed that her son was arrested and is spending time in jail after allegedly violating a restraining order put in place by Alexiana’s family.
“(His family) filed a restraining order against him, and he went back thinking she wanted him to come back and save her,” Mary said. “I don’t know where he’s getting it from…confused.”
At the time, Bravo head Andy Cohen shared that Robert’s sentencing was scheduled for February 2026.
“I’m not worried about that,” Mary said, clearly upset. “I know he’s in a place he’s not used to.
“At some point, I have to step back so he can learn and he can make his own decisions, and unfortunately, he’s learning the hard way. But I don’t mind that.
“It’s just that you don’t want to see your child suffer, but I know it’s good,” he said. “And I’d rather he die than stay there, you know?”
Mary shared that she refused to visit Robert in prison and look at him from behind the glass.
However, she ensured viewers that she and Robert spoke on the phone every day and that her husband, Robert Cosby Sr., was sending her “a lot of books”.
