Report: Sabres finalizing trade for Blues’ Parayko

The Buffalo Sabers are finalizing a deal to acquire defenseman Colton Parayko from the St. Louis Blues, TSN’s Darren Dreger reports.

According to Dreger’s report, defenseman Radim Meratka and a first-round pick are part of the package heading to St. Louis. Buffalo drafted Martaka ninth overall in 2025.

Parayko is under contract for $6.5 million per year until 2030. He has an absolute no-movement clause and needs to approve the deal.

The 32-year-old has recorded 14 points in 58 games this season and is one of the NHL’s premier shutdown defenders. He represented Canada at the Olympics and 4 Nations Face-Off and was an integral part of the Blues’ Stanley Cup championship in 2019.

The Sabers and Blues reportedly discussed a trade involving Robert Thomas on Tuesday, but with no outcome.

The Sabers are in the race to win the Atlantic Division. They trail the Tampa Bay Lightning by two points with two additional games played. Buffalo’s 14-year playoff drought is the longest in NHL history.
