Apple’s 2026 has already brought us AirTag 2 and a new Creator Studio app subscription aimed at independent content creators, but nothing so far for the company’s core product families.
As Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports, that may soon change. New versions of Apple’s low-end iPhone, basic iPad and iPad Air and high-end MacBook Pro are said to be coming “soon,” “soon” and “soon” respectively, ahead of planned updates for the iPad mini, Studio Display and other Mac models later in the year.
This is what we think we know about the upcoming hardware.
iPhone 17E
Apple is apparently planning to launch a new version of its basic iPhone, the updated iPhone 17e. The phone is said to include the same A19 chip as the regular iPhone 17, and will also include MagSafe charging. Although the iPhone 17e will likely stick to the basic one-lens camera system and notched, Dynamic Island-less screen, it will also launch at the same $599 price as the current 16e, which counts as good news considering the current AI-powered RAM and storage shortage.
This would be a change in how Apple approaches its lower-end iPhones. The older iPhone SE was updated sporadically, with a gap of at least a few years between each update. iPhone 16e was introduced only last year.
The biggest question is whether the 17e will keep up with the older but arguably better iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, which cost just $100 more than the current iPhone 16e and include a dual-lens camera system and dynamic island. Having four different iPhone models available in the same $600 to $800 price range is confusing at best.
