With running back Noah Brown set to come off injured reserve, the Commanders have released wide receiver Robby Chosen.
Chosen appeared in three games for the Commanders this season. In his first game against Dallas, he was targeted four times and made all four receptions for 36 yards, including a 13-yard reception. Against the Lions, Chuna was targeted four times, catching one of them for 17 yards. In the Madrid, Spain game (Week 11), against the Dolphins, Chosen threw a pass but did not make a reception.
Noah Brown and Terry McLaurin both practiced fully on Thursday. The other receivers listed on the injury report for Thursday’s workout, Jaylin Lane (hip) and Traylon Burkes (finger), were both limited in practice. Chris Moore (shoulder), meanwhile, was a full participant.
What kind of season has it been for the Commander’s wide receiver group? Well, Wednesday was the first time since Week 2 that McLaurin, Deebo Samuel and Brown were all full partners on the practice field together. The receiver group has had such a bad season that fans were excited Wednesday when the trio were back on the practice field.
No doubt, quarterback Marcus Mariota would be happy to have all three. Mariota has actually had to work with some makeshift arrangements and lineups for the Commanders. As far as the 2025 season goes, that depends on who you talk to. Some media and fans will be excited to see the three receivers together again, as this has not happened since the Packers game. Others will feel that the season is over (with no chance of a winning record), that it was all a waste of time. Some would even suggest that the Commanders should not bring back any of their former injured players in the hopes that Washington continues to lose and their draft position continues to rise in these last six weeks of the season. The Commander currently holds the No. 7 draft position through 12 weeks.
Chosen, age 32, actually entered the NFL in 2016 as Robby Anderson, playing his college ball at Temple U. With the Jets from 2016–19, Anderson moved to the Panthers from 2020 to 2022, before playing for the Cardinals in 2022. Home was with the Miami Dolphins in 2023 and 2024. Chuna spent training camp and preseason with the 49ers, was placed on their practice squad, and was released on September 8. With McLaurin and Brown injured, Washington reached out and signed Chosen to its practice squad on October 1.
For his career, Chosen has 385 receptions for 5,140 receiving yards (13.4 yards per reception) and 30 touchdowns in 125 NFL regular-season games.
