An autopsy confirmed that the body found in the Manistee National Forest on November 25 was that of Rebecca, a woman who disappeared from Boone, Wexford County, just days after giving birth.

In a press release, the sheriff said that the child was not present when volunteer searchers discovered Rebecca’s body.

The official cause of death is still pending.

The Wexford County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police and other law enforcement agencies are trying to locate Rebecca’s child.
