Your favorite vacuum brand
Dyson and iRobot were the two most popular vacuum brands with Mashable readers, with Dyson slightly trailing iRobot in the overall satisfaction rankings (7.6 and 7.4 out of 10, respectively). Reliability and ease of use
The iRobot Roomba scored more favorably than the Dyson on reliability (7.7 compared to 6.1) and ease of use (7.9 compared to 5.9). One respondent said of their Roomba robot vacuum, “It is an easy-to-use, simple feature, low-powered smart vacuum robot; however, this makes it desirable for many people like me because it is easier to use than complex systems.”

Our survey found the Roomba has the better cleaning efficiency among brands (though our vacuum expert swears by its Dyson stick vacuum). One survey respondent who owns a Roomba commented that it vacuums well and that they prefer using it to a traditional vacuum.
Another said, “I’ve had the Roomba for over five years, I couldn’t be happier. I use it almost every other day – never needed a repair. I’m very satisfied. I wish I had another.”

Although there were clear preferences in some scoring categories, our readers’ overall likelihood of recommending the top two brands was almost equal. Dyson scored 7.3 points, while iRobot reached 7.2 points. And, according to our in-house vacuum expert, both are solid brands worth adding to your cleaning arsenal.
