Last weekend saw another bout of Premier League drama, involving some big scalps and derby day fun.
Shock defeats to Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United sent shockwaves across the division, while the headline fixture lived up to its prematch hype as Eberechi Eze’s spectacular hat-trick helped Arsenal defeat local rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
The table-topping Gunners will also be involved in this upcoming weekend’s extraordinary clash, traveling to Chelsea as they look to overcome another hurdle to Premier League glory. There could be more heartache for four of the traditional ‘Big Six’ who tasted defeat last weekend.
This way Sports Illustrated The prediction is that Gameweek 13 will be over.
Brentford’s clash with Burnley is unlikely to get the pulse racing, but if it’s anything like the Bees’ last outing the drama will begin.
Brentford’s star striker Igor Thiago was at the center of the good and bad against Brighton & Hove Albion, scoring and missing a stoppage-time penalty in a 2–1 defeat. The Brazilian is likely to feature again on Saturday afternoon having failed to score in just five of Brentford’s league matches this season.
Based on their clash with Chelsea, Burnley will offer little resistance. Three consecutive defeats and five defeats in six away matches suggest that Scott Parker’s side could be in for another blow.
Prediction: Brentford 3-1 Burnley
After enjoying great form between mid-September and mid-November, things have turned sour for Manchester City since the international break. Consecutive defeats to Newcastle United and Bayer Leverkusen at home have raised further questions over their ability to compete for league and continental glory.
Pep Guardiola made a midweek change and was punished, but will likely name a more familiar lineup against Leeds United on Saturday. This should do the trick as the city residents aim to get back on track.
Leeds have endured a poor run of form on their travels this season and could suffer a similar fate to fellow newly-promoted team Burnley, who lost at the Etihad in September.
Prediction: Man City 3-1 Leeds
Sunderland are one of five teams to remain unbeaten at home in the Premier League this season, having split their six Stadium of Light appearances evenly between wins and draws. A hard-fought point against Arsenal in his last Wearside outing was emblematic of his fighting spirit and tenacity.
However, the Black Cats suffered their first defeat last November as they were beaten by Fulham by a narrow margin, and will be hoping the momentum does not run out after a great start to the campaign.
Bournemouth, who are struggling for form after an early-season surge, will look to cause further damage to Sunderland’s aspirations after coming from two goals down to avoid a third consecutive defeat last weekend.
Prediction: Sunderland 1-1 Bournemouth
Everton and Newcastle both had victories over the Manchester giants last weekend.
The Toffees stunned Man Utd in dramatic developments on Monday night, winning 1-0 at Old Trafford despite playing the match with 10 men for almost 75 minutes, after Idrissa Gueye was sent off for raising his hand at his own team-mate Michael Keane.
Tempers also flared during Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Man City, in which Harvey Barnes played the hero after two decisive strikes in the second half.
But the midweek defeat on the road to Marseille underlined Newcastle’s need for their 12th man for the St James’ Park crowd, while the Magpies have won just once in all competitions away from home this season.
Prediction: Everton 2-1 Newcastle
Thomas Frank helped strengthen Tottenham’s rearguard at the start of his reign, but the Lilywhites have now conceded 11 times in their last three games. Tricky fixtures with Manchester United, Arsenal and then Paris Saint-Germain have increased the pressure on the ex-Brentford boss.
Spurs will be lacking in confidence heading into their trip to fellow capital side Fulham, especially given their poor performances in north London. They have the second-worst home record in the Premier League this season, having won only one of six matches in front of their own fans.
Fulham, who have won two of their last three matches, will be aiming to take full advantage and make matters worse for Tottenham. Fatigue could also limit the Frenchmen, who were involved in Wednesday night’s 5-3 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Prediction:Tottenham 2-2 Fulham

Hopes that Man Utd have turned the corner may have turned out to be somewhat premature. Their disastrous defeat to Everton last time out was as bad as things get, with Ruben Amorim once again hitting out at his team after the defeat.
A trip to Crystal Palace is the last thing the Red Devils need, with the Eagles quietly in impressive form. They are fifth in the Premier League – five places above United – and have kept three consecutive clean sheets in the top flight.
The Eagles may have a slightly weaker performance as a result of Thursday night’s exploits, but they will fancy their chances at defeating United. Selhurst Park is an intimidating venue for teams with little confidence.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-0 Man Utd
The West Midlands derby graces our television sets on Sunday afternoon, when Aston Villa host their old rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Rob Edwards began his reign as Wolves boss with a defeat to Crystal Palace, meaning the old gold are yet to taste victory in the league this season. They have scored only two points and are already nine points away from safety.
Villa, who face Swiss team Young Boys on Thursday, will be keen to secure bragging rights and inflict even more misery on their enemies. After a good start to the tenure, Unai Emery’s men are now in fourth place.
Prediction: Aston Villa 2-0 Wolves
Sean Dyche has helped turn things around for Nottingham Forest after Anze Postecoglou’s poor performances at the City Ground and the Englishman has now guided the Midlands side to back-to-back league wins.
Beating Leeds on home soil was expected, but their 3–0 defeat of Liverpool at Anfield was a welcome surprise to Forest supporters – a result which saw them slip out of the relegation zone and drop to 16th.
Brighton have flown under the radar this season and despite receiving little attention they are currently sixth, looking likely to move into the top four this weekend.
Prediction: Nottingham Forest 1-2 Brighton
Who saw this coming? Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool are currently in 12th place, their lowest in decades. Nine defeats out of 12 in all competitions and three consecutive defeats by a three-goal margin for the first time since 1953 means it is crunch time for Arne Slot.
It is important to beat West Ham this weekend, but Wednesday’s shock 4-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven at Anfield will have further dented their confidence. Unfortunately for Slott, he also faces an up-and-coming Hammers team.
The Irons are unbeaten in their last three matches and have won two on the spin at the London Stadium. Both sides are conceding at a worrying rate, but Liverpool’s indifferent backline is currently paving the way for disastrous defending.
Prediction: West Ham 3-2 Liverpool
Chelsea and Arsenal both enjoyed impressive Champions League wins in midweek, with the Blues beating Barcelona and the Gunners overcoming Bayern Munich. Their Sunday clash in the Premier League promises to be fireworks.
Both London rivals are progressing after recent results and performances, with Chelsea currently the closest title contenders to Arsenal. A win for the Blues on Sunday will take them to within just three points of Mikel Arteta’s men.
Beating this Arsenal team is an incredible challenge, but ironically only Liverpool have been able to do it this season. The Gunners boast one of the tightest defenses in Europe and have an array of threats from both open play and set pieces.
This should be an enjoyable watch.
Prediction: Chelsea 1-1 Arsenal
