Manchester United did not have to play particularly well to beat Crystal Palace on Sunday, and Eagles boss Oliver Glassner lamented afterwards about the club’s failure to bring in players in the summer.
When a manager does this, I start to wonder how long he’ll hang on. I get it – you’ve got to quit when your stock is high, and Glassner’s stock certainly is right now.
However, he is right, as his squad is spread out. Glasner must be listening to Monday Night Club because I’ve been saying the same thing since the beginning of the season about how they’re going to underperform because it’s very difficult to compete without that depth.
However, I still think Palace will win this game, as Burnley are in a bit of trouble.
Scott Parker’s side didn’t score enough goals, so it was a real blow for them to get an equalizer with five minutes remaining at Brentford on Saturday and yet nothing came from the game.
I think they will fight here too, and then hide for a while to see the Palace.
Sutton’s prediction: 0-1
Felix’s prediction: Palace have also played a lot of games and I had a feeling they would struggle against Manchester United before losing on Sunday. Although I still think they will win it. It seems as if Burnley concede goals towards the end of the game because they can’t keep the momentum going. 1-3
Felix was at Wembley when Palace won last season’s FA Cup: There were a lot of my crazy travels and adventures in the book, and it was almost about finding the game that had a story behind it that had nothing to do with football, but it was about the people I met or even about me personally.
But I have to say that being amongst the Palace fans at Wembley was honestly the closest to a real religious experience I’ve ever had.
The feeling that they were doing something by winning their first major trophy, that their parents or grandparents who supported Palace couldn’t see, was incredible. It captured the essence of the book because I was looking for the magic of the FA Cup and I found it right there. Even talking about it now I shudder.
AI Prediction: 1-1
