‘Poker Face’ Is Dead, but Rian Johnson Has a Wild Plan to Revive It

We’ve seen the last of Charlie Cale, the human lie detector. Or have we? Big changes are coming to the world poker faceExcellent murder mystery show created by Rian Johnson. After two seasons on Peacock, the streamer is letting the show go, but Johnson wants it to continue in a new form. He wants to change it to about Doctor Who, James Bond-type franchise where every two years a new star takes over.

That means, for now, Natasha Lyonne is out, and if the show gets picked up elsewhere a new star – Peter Dinklage – will be joining.

The thing that set him apart was basically a superpower that allowed him to tell whether people were lying or not. That structure slowly began to change at the end of season two, giving Charlie a multi-episode nemesis, played by Patty Harrison. He ended the season back on the run from the authorities, which is exactly where we like him.
