Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling enter a dom/sub relationship in the ‘Pillion’ trailer
Based on the 2020 novel box hill by Adam Mars-Jones, who co-wrote the film with Lighton, back seat Harry Melling plays introverted parking attendant Colin. A chance encounter leads her to meet her polar opposite in the form of confident motorcycle club leader Ray (Alexander Skarsgård), and it doesn’t take long for the pair to begin a dom/sub relationship.
While the confident Ray is immersed in BDSM culture, this is Colin’s first sexual encounter. What follows is an exploration of kink, which earned rave reviews from its premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.

As Siddhant Adlakha wrote in his review out of Cannes, “Leighton’s electric, modern-day British drama explores a master-slave relationship that is as disturbing as it is invigorating. Led by a pair of fine performances from Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling, the film walks a delicate tonal tightrope with remarkable flair, resulting in one of the finest (and most crowd-pleasing) experiences in this year’s Cannes film Festival.”
