Madelaine Petsch and Gavin Casalegno to star in upcoming young adult romance chasing redBased on the Wattpad web novel by Isabel Ronin.
Mackenzie Munroe will direct from a script by Lauren Schachter, with Stampede Ventures’ Greg Silverman and Grant Torre producing alongside Webtoon Productions’ David Madden and Jason Goldberg.
Petsch will play Veronica, a straight-A student who is determined not to fall in love with college heartthrob Caleb (Casalegno) and become his next conquest, even though a chance encounter sparks an undeniable attraction between them. But fleeing a painful past and with nowhere to go, Veronica eventually moves into Caleb’s house. As the two grow closer, secrets begin to unravel and, in the words of the promotional blurb, “Love and betrayal collide in this addictive, slow-burn romance.”
Mister Smith Entertainment is handling international sales for the project and has closed deals for most of the world, with Amazon Prime Video picking up the film for the UK, Canada, Australia/New Zealand, France and Benelux; Capelite acquired Germany; Leone Film Group is taking over Italian rights; Sun/Diamond, handling Latin America, Spain, Portugal and South Africa; And Svensk took the film to Scandinavia, among other deals.
