Person of interest sought in deadly SC State shootings

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is searching for a person of interest in a SC State shooting that occurred on October 4.

Authorities say the man was seen on campus the night a shooting killed 19-year-old Jaliyah Butler.

In a separate shooting, a man was seriously injured and airlifted to hospital.

In the investigation so far, three people have been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting.

On October 27, authorities charged 18-year-old Matthew McCoy with carrying a weapon on school property and showing and presenting a gun.

McCoy was released on $50,000 bond for the first charge and $37,000 bond for the second charge.

Another teen, 18-year-old Jimmy Lee Thompson Jr., was arrested on October 9 and posted a $10,000 bond on charges related to carrying a weapon on school property.

On October 28, 18-year-old Trevion James Crawford was charged with carrying a weapon on school property.

In October, authorities said they did not believe the two shootings were linked, but that both investigations were active.
