Pakistani airstrikes kill 10 in Afghanistan – DW – 11/25/2025

The Taliban said on Tuesday that Pakistan carried out airstrikes in eastern Afghanistan that killed at least 10 civilians, including nine children.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid posted on Twitter that Pakistani forces “bombed a local civilian’s house” in Khost province late Monday, killing a woman and nine children.

He said further attacks hit Kunar and Paktika provinces, injuring four civilians.

Pakistani officials have not commented on the attacks.

3 killed in suicide bomb blast in Peshawar

The attacks came a day after suicide bombers targeted a security compound in Pakistan’s Peshawar city, killing at least three officers and injuring at least 11 others, according to police.

Although no group claimed responsibility for the bombing, state broadcaster PTV said the attackers were Afghan civilians.

Pakistani President Asif Zardari attributed Islamabad’s label “foreign-backed Fitna al-Khawarij” to the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which he accuses of operating from Afghan territory.

Earlier this month, a faction of the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing in Islamabad that killed 12 people.

Pakistan said the cell responsible was “directed by the Afghanistan-based high command.”

Afghan-Pakistan relations are bad

Relations between the neighbors have deteriorated rapidly since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021.

In October, border clashes between the two countries left around 70 people dead with casualties on both sides.

Peace talks between Afghanistan and Pakistan ended in a deadlock, with the Taliban government blaming Pakistan’s “irresponsible and uncooperative” approach for the impasse.

Islamabad had demanded that Kabul curb TTP terrorists who have been waging a bloody campaign against Pakistan.
