Bowling Green, Ky. (WBKO) – Bowling Green officers are investigating a violent home invasion that happened at an apartment Sunday night.
According to police reports, local law enforcement responded after several masked men armed with firearms attempted to force entry into a residence in Hillview Mills.
When officers arrived they found the suspects had already fled. During the response, shots were fired in the surrounding area, and officers located another crime scene on Moss Creek Avenue.
The victims told that four people had entered the house through the open back window. Ransacking the residence in search of unidentified items, the intruders demanded to know the location of her brother’s bedroom.
The brother said he arrived home during the incident and, sensing trouble, brought a handgun and fired at the intruders, who retaliated. Multiple bullet casings and damage were recorded inside the apartment. The suspects ultimately fled on foot.
Officers pursued several individuals seen running toward Spring Creek Avenue, but they became lost on a nearby greenway. Law enforcement agencies including the Bowling Green Police Department, Warren County Sheriff’s Office and WKU Police canvassed the area searching for the suspects.
The two suspects, 21-year-old Javian S. Harris, and 19-year-old Brian C. Williams, were later found at separate locations. Williams suffered an apparent gunshot wound. Drone assistance from the Sheriff’s Office helped locate the injured suspect.
Investigators recovered several shell casings at the scene, linking the 9 mm and 10 mm firearms to the incident.
Area residents reported hearing gunshots, and one said he chased the suspects with his AR-15 but no shots were fired.
The Bowling Green Police Criminal Investigation Division has taken over the case, and officers are continuing to search for additional suspects and gather evidence.
Harris and Williams were charged with first-degree robbery and remain in the Warren County Regional Jail.
