Pacers’ Andrew Nembhard questionable with quad contusion vs. Wizards

INDIANAPOLIS — Pacers point guard Andrew Nembhard is back on the injury report for Friday’s game against the Wizards, but apparently with a less serious injury than the left shoulder strain that caused him to miss seven games early in the season.

Nembhard is listed as questionable on the injury report with a right quad contusion. It was not immediately clear when the injury occurred as Nembhard played just over 35 minutes during Wednesday’s loss to the Raptors.

Nembhard is averaging 17.5 points and 6.2 assists per game this season, serving as the starting point guard with All-Star Tyrese Haliburton out for the season with a torn Achilles tendon. Nembhard has scored in double figures in nine consecutive games, before going into Wednesday’s game with nine points on 2-of-10 shooting.

If Nembhard is out, the Pacers will likely be forced to start TJ McConnell, who returned from a hamstring strain two weeks ago. They recently waived Monte Morris to replace forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl for depth at the forward positions.

The Pacers still have six players listed as out in Haliburton, forwards Obi Toppin, Aaron Nesmith and Johnny Furphy and guards Quenton Jackson and Kam Jones. Toppin is out until February 1. Nesmith, Furphy, Jackson and Jones are expected to be out two weeks or more.

Wizards rookie forward Trey Johnson (hip flexor strain) and sharpshooter Corey Kispert (distal phalanx fracture of right thumb) are listed as out. Guard Kishawn George is questionable.
