Our Favorite Compact Power Station Is on Sale for 33% Off

in here Pacific Northwest, we’re headed into cold and windy weather, which usually means power outages. The best way to be prepared for those cold and dark days is with a portable power station like the Jackery Explorer 300 Plus, which is currently $100 off at Best Buy and a similar price at B&H. It’s compact enough to keep in a cabinet for a rainy day, but still has enough juice to power small and medium-sized devices.

The Jackery Explorer 300 Plus, a large gray square battery-shaped device with a handle on the top, outlets on the front, and a small screen.

I actually picked up one of these a few weeks ago before a big storm, and although luckily I didn’t have to use it, I did do some quick tests on it to make sure everything was in working order. Every device I connected to the Jackery immediately began charging at the fastest rate, and I even plugged my router in, which happily powered on from the outlet without any issues. Although I didn’t get a chance to drain the battery, it has a 288-watt-hour capacity which is excellent for charging small devices like phones and tablets or using it for hours to keep your smaller devices running.

It has multiple ports for charging and powering your various devices. There’s a regular USB-A port with 15W max for casual tasks, as well as two USB-C ports with 100W max, one of which is also used as an input for charging the power station. If the lower wattage USB ports don’t fit the bill for your most demanding device, there’s also a traditional American 120V outlet with a 300W limit. There’s even a charger of the style you find in cars, if you have the necessary accessories.

If you’re worried that the Explorer 300 Plus won’t have enough power to keep you shut off for long periods of time, or you frequently travel on the road, I also saw several Jackery solar panels marked down at Best Buy. The smaller 40W solar panel has been reduced from $130 to $79, and the larger 100W version has been reduced from $299 to $198. Although this smaller model is great for individuals and occasional use, be sure to check out our other favorite portable power stations for larger batteries.
