Oregon vs. San Diego State live blog from Players Era Festival

The Oregon Ducks men’s basketball team will be in action against the San Diego State Aztecs on Tuesday night in Las Vegas as part of the 2025 Players Era Festival.

The Ducks came into the tournament as the defending champions, yet lost to the No. 22 Auburn Tigers 84-73 on Monday.

A recurring issue for Oregon has been carelessness with the basketball, and it once again reared its ugly head, as they committed 18 turnovers against the Tigers. Nate Bittle and Jackson Shelstad each missed the game, with the latter converting only four of 17 shots from the field and scoring nine points. Takai Simpkins led the way with 22 points on five triples, but it wasn’t enough in the end.

The Ducks will need both Bittle and Shelstead to perform better against San Diego State, who are also coming off a loss in their Players Era Festival debut. They were no match for the No. 7 Michigan Wolverines, as they were dispatched by a score of 94–54.

That doesn’t mean the Aztecs aren’t talented, as top players Miles Bird and Magoon Gwath had a tough performance and only scored 12 points total. The Ducks defense will need to focus on both of them to pull out a win.
