Omaha morning weather forecast for Friday, November 28

Winter storm coming to Omaha area

It looks like not only is it our first snowfall of the season, but there’s also an impressive winter storm on the way for most of our viewing area. So here is the latest update. Winter Storm Warning from this afternoon through Saturday night. Most of southwestern Iowa, including Pottawattamie County. And you see it here in purple. Most eastern Nebraska counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory from this afternoon through Saturday night. We’ll be keeping a close eye here as the system gets closer, as I wouldn’t be surprised if a few more counties get added to that winter storm warning, given the potential for significant snowfall. Here’s the latest forecast for 3 to 6 inches of snowfall across much of eastern Nebraska. I think a little bit to the east, closer to that six-inch mark here in the Omaha metro, you can see 6 to 8 from Tecumah down through the Creston area. If you’re out toward Harlan, Audubon, Denison, Carroll is more likely to be in the 8 to 12 inch zone. This amount of snow, as well as some strong winds throughout the day Saturday, will create difficult travel conditions, possibly across the state of Iowa and south into eastern Nebraska, still expect 1 to 3, but will likely see a change from a rain mix to all snow as we head into Saturday. So moving through the timeline this afternoon and evening, a chance for a little light snow mix is possible. There’s a chance of some snow here in the metro, especially if we get a little drizzle this evening. Any snow accumulation during the day? More likely, closures north and east of the Omaha metro will now occur overnight, with expectations that the transition from the mix to snow will become more widespread. Snow is expected across the I-80 corridor tomorrow morning, with more snow to the south. Travel is becoming increasingly difficult, and then by mid-to-afternoon, with windy conditions expected to bring widespread snowfall, travel will become difficult across much of Iowa and eastern Nebraska. So if you have travel plans tomorrow, reconsider. Get going today if you can, because if you wait until Sunday, the amount of snowfall we are anticipating could make it very difficult. Traveling across Iowa tomorrow. 12 However, our forecast today. It’s cold, it’s windy, it’s cloudy. We are mostly dry. Stray panic cannot be ruled out. But as we moved into the afternoon, a slightly better chance of a mild mix was seen. again. There are some chances for snow as we head into the evening. As we’re seeing temperatures near and just below zero right now, things are fairly clear looking at the Henry Doorly Zoo, we’re at 19 degrees, the breeze is cool, so it’s starting to get cold here on Friday, we’re seeing temperatures more in the 20s out west. We’re starting to see some more clouds coming in and expect some light snow early this morning. If you’re headed to Norfolk Columbus, it will try to make its way into the Omaha metro, but I think the dry air will dissipate early this morning as the system moves our way to the northwest. So let’s go through the storm forecaster here Friday morning. Most are dry. Light snow may occur toward the Norfolk West Point area. As we move towards the middle of the day. Still think we’re mostly dry. Maybe a stray flurry. The Dennison area has a better chance of light snowfall toward Tecama, and a little more snow accumulation toward Carroll Atlantic Harlan Dennison during the afternoon and evening Doesn’t look like much here in the Omaha metro, but at this point, we’ll keep an eye out. As we move into the evening hours, there is a possibility of light drizzle which may cause some roads to become slippery. And then overnight, that snow becomes more widespread. The difference here this morning is that the rain snow line is now moving south of the metro as we approach sunrise on Sunday or Saturday. So expect moderate to heavy snowfall at times in the morning, with winds increasing by the middle of the day. Snowy, windy conditions persist throughout much of our viewing area and then continue to snow throughout the afternoon. Now, as we approach sunset on Saturday, most of the snow is moving out of Nebraska and will continue into southwest Iowa for a little while by 11:00 am. Most of it should go out. So again, with widespread difficult travel conditions expected on Saturday, we still have wintry weather once again, with snow from 3 to 6 in the metro, possibly up to a foot in spots in southwest Iowa. sunday. Effect. By morning we may have those wind chills as high as five and five below zero. By this time the coldest air of the season prevails, and it is cold all around. But then again, O.V.
