Olympic skater carrying out fantasy football punishment at Games – NBC Los Angeles

Casey Dawson finished last in his fantasy football league — and he’s paying for it at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics.

The Team USA speed skater said he is carrying out his fantasy football punishment while being in Italy for the Games. The punishment included using a phone case with a large prosthetic leg attached to it.

“The phone case is so ridiculous,” Dawson told NBC Sports. “It’s too big, it’s ugly.”

The Park City, Utah native said he also has to carry a smaller, “fancy” backpack that can’t hold so many items.

According to NBC Olympics, Dawson is in a fantasy football league with other speed skaters, including fellow U.S. team members Emery Lehman and Ethan Sepuran. They told the International Skating Union that the last place finisher in the league would be punished for the entire speed skating season. According to the Associated Press, Dawson finished last in the league in tackles for the 2024 NFL season.

But Dawson is taking the long sentence in stride.

“Whenever I have (the backpack) on the side of the snow, I look at it and it gives me a little smile every time,” he said.

Dawson, Lehmann and Sepuran are world record holders in the team pursuit. Dawson and Lehmann were part of the men’s pursuit team that won a bronze medal at the 2022 Beijing Games.

Dawson, a two-time Olympian and one-time medalist, competed in his first event of the 2026 Games on Sunday, finishing eighth in the men’s 5000 meters. This 25-year-old player is also going to race in men’s 1500 meters, 10000 meters and team pursuit.
