COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State is making another change in its preparations for Michigan Week.
The team will fly, not bus, to Michigan on Friday to travel to Ann Arbor for Saturday’s rivalry game.
“Keep it routine,” coach Ryan Day said. “If we keep saying this week needs to be like other weeks in terms of our preparation, we know that means a lot different on the field. But we have to keep the routine normal… I know that hasn’t worked the last four years. You have to look at these things and try to figure out how to make them better. This is just a little thing we wanted to do to make sure it’s as routine as possible.”
Historically, the team has taken a bus to Michigan, which is about a three-hour drive from campus.
At the beginning of the year, the team hosted the band for practice during the second bye week in late October. Typically, this has happened during Michigan week, but the Buckeyes were looking to make this week as normal as possible.
Coupled with Thanksgiving making the week even more hectic, with no school for players, Ohio State was trying to run the week smoothly.
Day has made a point of keeping it simple and routine for two-straight days this week, and this is another example.
Snow forecast in Ann Arbor
As of late Wednesday night, it appears Ohio State is set for a snow game in The Big House.
According to The Weather Channel, the high temperature in Ann Arbor on Saturday will be 30 degrees, with light snowfall by afternoon. Snow accumulations of less than an inch are expected with winds of 5 to 10 mph.
However, at the end of the day and at night, a winter storm can drop three to five inches of snow on Ann Arbor.
It appears that the worst of the weather will have no impact on the game, but it certainly appears that Saturday’s game will be played in the elements.
