USA TODAY Sports’ Prince Grimes ‘overreacted’ to some of the best games from Sunday’s Week 12 slate.
We’ve all been there, staring at the Thanksgiving dinner table.
Everyone thought we were finished, but suddenly there was room for another plate, another dessert. After all, the holidays only come once a year and what else are you going to do with all that food?
The Dallas Cowboys are exactly the same going into Thanksgiving.
The dishes were washed, the leftovers were put away and the company began to leave. Suddenly, Dallas got a second wind and became a reenergized group after reinforcements at the trade deadline.
Now after two wins, Dallas is hoping there is still enough room at the table to make it among those with an eye on the next big holiday.
By the end of the night, Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and the Cowboys will know if they belong or not.
Here’s a look at the Cowboys’ playoff chances, remaining schedule and overall NFC playoff picture.
Cowboys playoff prospects
According to NFL Next Gen Stats, the Cowboys have a 10% chance of reaching the playoffs. With two fewer wins than the previous wild-card spot in the conference, Dallas is currently the NFC’s 10th seed.
Beating the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 12 certainly helped their chances, but the Cowboys will need to continue their winning streak to get back into the race. Perhaps the biggest challenge they may present is their matchup against the Green Bay Packers in Week 4.
Dallas entered Week 11 with only a 4% chance of making the postseason, which is a sign that they are potentially headed in the right direction. The Cowboys continue to have a dynamic offense, but now they can pair it with a surging defense. Time will tell if those reinforcements were too little, too late in a crowded NFC playoff picture.
cowboy balance program
According to Tankathon, the Cowboys will face the fourth-easiest schedule of the season. They have three games remaining against teams with winning records, two divisional matchups and a crucial Thanksgiving game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Below is a look at Dallas’ remaining opponents:

- Dallas Cowboys (5-5-1)
- Washington Commanders (3-8)
