Now You Don’t Added A Major Star’s Role Entirely During Reshoots

Don’t make any moves if you haven’t seen “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” – Chief failed Ahead!

At the very end of “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” – the Ruben Fleischer-directed threequel that reunites Magical franchise mainstays Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, Woody Harrelson and Morgan Freeman – we see a holographic appearance of Mark Ruffalo’s character Dylan Rhodes, an FBI veteran who now works for the universe’s mysterious organization The Eye. According to Fleischer, they hastily added this hologram to the film as soon as Ruffalo was “available”… and hopefully Ruffalo will be able to appear in the already confirmed fourth “Now You See Me” movie.

“Pending Mark Ruffalo’s schedule, Dylan will play a big role in the next adventure,” Fleischer told Entertainment Weekly before joking about “seven more ‘Avengers’ movies” in the Oscar nominee’s future. (Ruffalo plays the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe). “But my hope for the movie would definitely be that there will be more Dylan in the movie,” Fleischer continued. “I’m going to let you in on a little secret, which is that originally he wasn’t even going to be in this movie because he was not available at all during our principal photography.”

So how did Fleischer fit Ruffalo into this film? green screen. “Fortunately, at the time, he was available to shoot on green screen independent of our shoot, but still, we managed to get him there,” Fleischer told the outlet. “Obviously, we wanted him to knock on the door and come on the scene (finally in person), but he’s a busy guy, and the hologram version of Dylan was one I was very happy to accept.”

A longtime Now You See Me character died in the third movie — and he’s probably not coming back

While Dylan Rhodes makes a very brief appearance in “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t”, another legacy character meets a tragic end. Thaddeus Bradley, played by Morgan Freeman in the first two films, appears in the third film to welcome wizards new and old back to the field… but is killed by stray bullets. In the same Entertainment Weekly excerpt, Isla Fisher, who returned for the third film after playing escape artist Henley Reeves in the first film, said that filming Thaddeus’ death scene was devastating.

“That was a really hard scene to film, she cried during the three-day shoot,” Fischer recalled. “I’m hoping it’s a magic trick and he’ll come back next time and they’ll say it was all a stunt.” However, ask Ruben Fleischer, and he’ll tell you that unfortunately, this isn’t a trick.

“We thought about it, but felt like maybe it would undermine the purpose of the Horsemen,” Fletcher said about bringing Freeman back for a fourth time. “Because we considered this idea, maybe he ends up playing magic tricks or something with his grandkids. But we decided not to do that, just to let Veronica really be as bad as she’s supposed to be. Morgan felt it was the right thing to do, so I wouldn’t have done it if he felt otherwise.” Nevertheless, Fletcher said he cried while watching Freeman’s death scene: “I burst into tears watching his performance because it was so emotionally moving. He’s like a grandfather to all of us in a way, and it was really powerful to see him perform like that.”

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t Find a Way to Bring Back a Phenomenal Character from the Second Movie

Despite the loss of Morgan Freeman’s Thaddeus Bradley, there is some good news for fans of the “Now You See Me” franchise. In a move that helped fix a major problem with the second film, Ruben Fleischer brought back Lizzy Caplan as Lula Mae. In case you forgot, Caplan’s Lula “replaced” Isla Fisher’s Henley Reeves in the second film when Fisher’s real-life pregnancy prevented her from filming “Now You See Me 2.”

Fleischer, for his part, is thrilled to have the chance to include both Caplan and Fisher. “I’m so glad we were able to feature both women because they’re both incredible artists and both so funny and talented,” Fleischer told Entertainment Weekly. At that point, he was excited to feature the moment where Lula and Henley – along with Ariana Greenblatt’s newcomer June – united over the lack of female magicians in their region.

“I love that moment when Jesse’s character says, ‘You two knew each other?’ And they say, ‘Yeah, how many female magicians do you think there are in the world?’ And the fact that there are three of us in the room right now is just blowing my mind,” Fletcher told the outlet. “It really invokes the male-dominated magical world in a way, but I also think it gives them power and they have a relationship independent of the Horsemen that no one else expected.”

“Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” is in theaters now, and the fourth “Now You See Me” film – which will be released hopefully According to Fleischer, more Mark Ruffalo features are in the works.
