Five-star prospect Lamar Brown of Baton Rouge (La.) University Labs revealed his commitment to secure his services for the LSU Tigers with the hometown program in July.
Brown, the top-ranked athlete in America, committed to the LSU Tigers in July, with the Bayou Bengals acquiring the No. 1 rated athlete in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
Brown said after his commitment, “It feels good to play for my state and city. Not just for three or four years but for the rest of my football life. I’m fortunate to be in this position and get to play in Tiger Stadium.”
“Frank Wilson – he’s been with me since day one. I have a relationship with the entire staff, every single person on the staff helped me through this moment.”
For the 6-foot-3, 285-pounder out of the Bayou State, it ultimately became a battle between the LSU Tigers and the Texas A&M Aggies, with the hometown school winning.
Following the news that Brian Kelly was relieved of his duties in Baton Rouge, there was talk that Brown might change his commitment elsewhere to the Texas A&M Aggies.
But despite pursuit from Texas A&M and others, the top-ranked prospect in America appears to be joining the hometown Tigers.
Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong said, “Lamar Brown and his camp were talking to Texas A&M and other programs even before Brian Kelly was fired, but that certainly doesn’t mean he’s close to flipping — but that was where he was having some conversations.”
“I think he always envisioned himself as a Tiger… wanting to see who LSU goes there and whether it’s a guy they like — if some of these assistant coaches are back.”
Now, the LSU Tigers are set to hire Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin as the next leader in Baton Rouge, hiring Brown to:

The five-star LSU pledge took to social media to react to the appointment and Brown is set to officially sign with the Tigers when the early signing period begins on Wednesday.
Brown also told Rivals, “It’s great to know that I will have a coach that is ready to compete for a national championship and wants to bring that back to Baton Rouge.”
LSU is in line to officially hire Kiffin on Sunday as he begins to finalize his move to Baton Rouge.
