The new table toy joins Alarmo in Nintendo’s quest to take over your bedroom. Before you run to stuff your ears between your pillowcases, at least Nintendo’s latest toy is far less annoying than most of the AI gadgets that have come out over the past few years. Wonder Flower will be available in the New York and San Francisco Nintendo Stores or online at My Nintendo Store.
Nintendo’s Talking Flower is a simple concept. It includes a potted plant with a sousaphone-shaped mouth and glowing eyes indicating curiosity and instability. In an overview trailer first posted on Nintendo TODAY! app, Nintendo showed how the toy includes multiple autonomous and programmable voice lines that can speak at select times. Nintendo said the device will talk about twice per hour, with questions like “It’s nice to get outside sometimes” and “Is it weird for flowers to talk?”
a creeping plant
Otherwise, the toy includes a large button that your kids can use to make it speak continuously. “Make sure you’re getting your vegetables,” might be the tone. Nintendo claims that the plant can also sense the time of day and ambient room temperature. It should have voice lines for each of these scenarios, although we’ll soon find out if it starts repeating itself over and over again.
Thankfully, Nintendo included the ability to hold down the button and turn it off for a while. Otherwise, you can program it to set a wake up or sleep message. Mario the Creator made it clear that the plant sometimes gets this wrong on purpose, not because it doesn’t know what time it is, but because the little bush is always going to be surprised in some way or another. At least, Wonder Flower won’t speak during the night.
Your kids may enjoy the Wonder Flower even more than you do. The device has a music mode where the plant yells “Wonder” before playing a song from the game. People closest to the plant can spam the button to shout random exclamations. However, this device speaks 11 languages, so any multilingual family can use it as an ambient tutor to keep their Spanish sharp.
it could be worse
Despite the Wonder Flower’s constant grumbling, I don’t think it will be as annoying as most other talking gadgets we’ve seen recently. At CES 2026, there were a mountain of kid-centric toys featuring AI to talk to your kids and answer all their questions. Late last year, the US Public Interest Research Group Education Fund (PIRG) and NBC detailed how these AI-centric toys would get kids to voluntarily talk to them about BDSM topics like impact play (including the benefits of whips vs. paddles). These toys can tell children how to light a match or where they can find a knife.

Nintendo’s pre-programmed toy is much more controlled by comparison. I’ll admit, I’m the type of person who would try to annoy my roommate by hammering on Wonder Flower’s talk button. The March 12 release date matches a new release date super mario wonder bros wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 version + Meetup in Belbelle Park update coming March 26th. The paid-for upgrade pack will add more multiplayer modes to the existing game and some other features. This flowering will come after Nintendo launched its $100 Virtual Boy entertainment device and the new purple and green Joy-Cons 2, which are again selling for $100.
