Nikki Glaser’s Golden Globes monologue brutally roasts both celebrities and the government

Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser kicked off tonight’s awards ceremony with a self-aware monologue, nodding at the current news events that are distracting nearly everyone.

“Yes, the Golden Globes: without a doubt, the most important thing happening in the world right now,” Glaser said. “I can’t believe how much star power we have in this room tonight. It’s crazy. There are so many A-listers. And by A-listers, I mean people who are A-list, who have been heavily modified.”

Glaser also jokingly announced some Golden Globe winners for non-existent categories, including Best Editing for the U.S. Department of Justice and Best Editing for CBS News.

“CBS News: America’s newest place to watch BS news,” Glaser quipped.

That doesn’t mean Glaser didn’t also devote ample time to roasting Golden Globes attendees. It also included a sarcasm one fight after another Actor Leonardo DiCaprio has a notorious habit of only dating women under the age of 30 – apparently the only information Glaser could find about him.

“I tried not to do that [make that joke]But like, we don’t know anything else about you, dude,” Glaser said, addressing DiCaprio from the stage. “Like, there’s nothing else. Like, open. I am serious! I saw. I searched. This was the most in-depth interview you’ve ever done kill teen magazine in 1991. Is your favorite food still pasta, pasta, and more pasta?”
