Nvidia has partnered with Google to launch a new cloud gaming plan exclusively for Chromebooks. GeForce Now Fast Pass will allow Chromebook owners to stream over 2,000 games directly from existing PC game libraries without ads, and new Chromebook purchases will include a one-year subscription for free.
Fast Pass looks similar to GeForce Now’s existing free plan, which includes the ability to stream over 2,000 “ready-to-play” titles from a user’s existing Steam, Epic, or Xbox library. Unlike that plan, the companies say that Fast Pass “contains no ads” and “allows you to skip the queue”, compared to the typical wait of two minutes or more to start playing on the Free plan.
There are other restrictions as well, Fast Pass users are limited to 10 hours of cloud gaming per month. Up to five of them can be transferred to the next month if you don’t use them. Nvidia’s other paid plans, starting at $9.99 per month, support a variety of other features, including higher resolutions, faster frame rates, RTX ray-tracing, and access to a larger game library backed by a few thousand “install-to-play” titles that must be installed on Nvidia’s servers before you can access them.
Google says anyone who buys a new Chromebook will now get one year of GeForce Now Fast Pass included. The companies have not confirmed how much the Fast Pass will cost beyond that offer.
