New Bluesky AI only slightly less unpopular than JD Vance

Just days after Bluesky announced its new AI product, coding assistant AT has already become the second most blocked account on the platform.

As TechCrunch reports, Etsy profiles had already been ignored by 125,000 users. With only 1,500 followers, that means 83 times more users have blocked AT than followed – according to open source data, this number is higher than the official White House account, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) profile, and second only to Vice President JD Vance.

AT was announced at the Bluesky-sponsored Atmosphere AT protocol conference by former CEO and now Chief Innovation Officer Jay Graber. As Graber and co-host Paul Frazee, Bluesky CTO, explained, AT is an agentic app that lets users “vibe code” their own social feed. This is a tool that the platform believes will help reduce low-quality, AI-generated slurs and misinformation spreading on the internet.

Following widespread ridicule by BlueSky users, who condemned BlueSky’s investment in generative AI products and flatly rejected AT’s integration on the open source platform, Graber posted a response:

“We listen to concerns about AI. Our goal is to use this technology to give people more control over content, not just generate it. AT uses AI to help you create custom feeds without having to know how to code.

We will look at ways to take into account the preferences expressed by those who have blocked @attie.ai. The team is making progress towards private accounts. There was great feedback on the technology at Atmosphere Conf this week, and we’ll have more to share soon.”

Dear Bluesky: We don’t want AT, we want an edit button We don’t want AT – we criticize AI and “vibe-coding” and feel that all “AI” / LLM technology is built on theft and lack of resources, we want to be able to find things here organically with *human*, not machine-assisted LLM interaction.

If you haven’t already blocked AT and instead keep an open mind to the app’s vibe coding possibilities, you’ll probably have to wait a little longer. It’s still in invite-only closed beta. Sign up for the waiting list on the AT website.
