Nearly 2,000 FirstEnergy customers without power across Ohio on Thanksgiving morning

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Nearly 2,000 FirstEnergy customers across Ohio were without power Thursday morning on Thanksgiving, according to the utility’s online outage map.

As of 9:17 a.m., FirstEnergy reported 1,964 customers without power across the state, of which more than 2.1 million are served.

The greatest concentration of outages was in Ashtabula County, where 663 customers – about 1.27% of the county – were without power. Cuyahoga County ranked second with 608 outages, affecting about 0.11% of customers.

In Geauga County, 235 customers were without service (0.59%), while 70 outages were reported in Lake County and 38 in Lorain County. Smaller portions were scattered across other counties, including Lucas (24 outages) and Ashland (2).

Most counties on the FirstEnergy map showed 0% of customers affected.

The reason for the cut was not immediately listed. FirstEnergy updates its outage map every 15 minutes and warns that it could take up to 35 minutes for new outages to emerge.
