It’s been a long time coming, but this week remakes of two all-time classic puzzle adventure games have arrived on PS5 and PS VR2. Cyan Worlds released this version of mist On Meta Quest headset in 2020; PC, Mac, and Xbox in 2021; And iOS in 2022. PlayStation was an outsider thing until now. It’s available for Sony’s console and VR headset (normally $35, 20 percent off for PlayStation Plus members until May 26).
Remake sequel, RivenAlso launched on the Microsoft Store on PS5, PS VR2, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (also $35, but with a limited-time discount). According to the PlayStation Blog, the PS5 Pro versions of both games have “improved scene distance, foliage, textures, post-processing, and shading.”
i never played mistBut Riven One of the first games I played on PC as a kid. I remember it looked beautiful at the time, unlike any game I’d seen before.
Sadly, I never made much progress. If I remember correctly, I couldn’t figure out what the various handles and levers I found in the beginning section actually did and I immediately gave up. Maybe I’ll have more success in this Riven (And mist) Now, even though puzzle games aren’t necessarily my forte.
Speaking of being a nerd as a child, I spent a lot of time playing Bubsy in: Close Encounters of the Furious Kind when I was young. I really liked it at the time, but in hindsight this game is not good. I am mentioning this because Bubsy 4D – the first Bubsy game since 2019 and the first in 3D in 30 years – dropped this week.
Quippy Bobcat is back thanks to Fabraz (demon tide) and publisher Atari. In this platformer, Bubsy sets out on a mission to recover a Golden Fleas from a technologically advanced sheep that stole it – I’m not going to try to explain the story beyond that.
Bubsy has some new tools, like being able to roll into a ball and move faster. This should help players who want to finish the level as quickly as possible while making their way to the online leaderboard.
There will be old memories here for many players. Honestly, it’s oddly comforting to me that Bubsy seems as annoying as ever.
Bubsy 4D Available now for PC (Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series
thick as Thieves This is a game we’ve had our eye on for a while, and it’s had an interesting journey towards reaching Steam this week ($5). It was originally planned as a multiplayer heist game from a team consisting of Thief and Me, two veterans of the immersive sim and stealth genres. system shock 2 veteran Paul Neurath and Deus Ex creator Warren Spector. The idea was that players would battle each other to steal valuable items while showcasing magic and budding technology in a 1910s setting.
However, during development, Otherside Entertainment realized that the single- and two-player co-op modes were more fun than the original vision of competitive heists. The developers said that they may add a PvPvE mode going forward.
For starters, thick as Thieves It includes two thieves, two maps (which can be changed by adjusting the difficulty settings), 16 contracts, and half a dozen pieces of gear. Initially the campaign is said to last for about four hours.
Amanita Design’s latest game phonopolisWhich is looking very beautiful in this trailer. It is a puzzle adventure game set in a 3D world made of hand-painted cardboard. The developers animated it at 12fps to mimic the style of stop-motion films.
Here, the residents of the dystopian city Phonopolis are ruled by a leader who issues orders through a loudspeaker. But a young resident is immune to these orders and begins to fight against The Man. As Felix, you can lead a rebellion by manipulating loudspeakers to solve puzzles with the help of other characters. You will also change the surrounding environment.
phonopolis It’s making perfect notes for me and I’m looking forward to checking it out. It is available on Steam, GOG and Epic Games Store. It would normally cost you $25, but there’s a 10 percent discount through June 3.
