As Mashable’s tech editor, I get the chance to test products like this as part of my work. I honestly don’t know if I’d pay $769 for these smart glasses – their normal price – or even $599, but if you’re an early adopter and willing to try out all things AR/VR, this is your chance to get them on sale.
Today, you can buy the Xreal One Pro AR glasses for $170 less than their usual price, part of Amazon’s Cyber Monday sale.

What I like about Xreal One Pro smart glasses
I also appreciate the fact that Xreal isn’t trying to isolate you from the real world and immerse you in some kind of metaverse. So, rather than virtual reality, these smart glasses fall firmly into the augmented reality category. The Xreal One Pro connects to your laptop, PC or tablet and projects an additional monitor into the air around you.

This can be exceptionally useful. As a manager, I often need to keep an eye on Slack and email in case one of my reporters is dealing with an urgent issue. When I can’t be at my desk, with its two-screen setup, or in Mashable Office, where I can spread my tabs across three screens, my MacBook’s single, solitary screen is extremely limiting.
When I put on the Xreal glasses, I can access my Slack or email directly on top or to the side of my laptop. When I work, I just need to glance over, and I can see all my messages instantly. There’s something undeniably futuristic about the effect, even if the glasses are donning major Arnold Schwarzenegger. Terminator 2: Judgment Day Feeling.

The virtual display is surprisingly sharp and vibrant, although the fact that you have to be tethered to your device by a USB-C cable is obviously not ideal. I hope future generations of AR glasses will solve this problem, but we’re not there yet.
Again, I have mixed feelings about these glasses. Personally, I preferred the experience of the Apple Vision Pro, but unless Apple drops the price by about $3,000, it’s a better entry point into AR for most people.
