My Favorite TV to Watch the Winter Olympics Is on Sale

super bowl It’s a good time. You eat too much, you probably drink too much, and this year the half-time show features one of the biggest artists in the world. But three hours of fun isn’t a great reason to buy a new TV. On the other hand, the Winter Olympics might just happen. We’re talking about two-plus week-long events (literally) like Big Hawaii Snowboarding, and if you take out a Peacock subscription (or have a good VPN), you can watch almost all of it in 4K. For such an occasion, Samsung’s 77-inch S90F QD-OLED at $2,000 might be the perfect match.

S90F QD-OLED (77-inch)

The S90F has a gorgeous display and is one of the best TVs of the year. Although it doesn’t deliver the same intense impact as Samsung’s flagship S95F, its slight brightness increase compared to the previous S90D provides enough brightness and brightness for anything you might stream, including the rugged snowy peaks of the Milan Olympics. It has been around this price for some time, but it won’t see a big discount until the end of the year.

I’ve been watching the early 2026 Games events on the S90F, and it’s already been a thrilling ride. The men’s downhill training race, which involved high-speed drone cameras following competitors for a POV view down the slopes at speeds of over 100 kilometers per hour, had my heart racing from the jump.

Vibrant colours, deep blacks and sparkling white snow all look spectacular, while the TV’s 120-Hz refresh rate ensures the sharpest images look smooth as silk. (A quick note for dark eyes: The larger 85-inch model doesn’t use the same quantum dot display for advanced colors as the 77-inch model or the 65-inch version I tested, so it will perform slightly worse.)

Of course, the S90F is more than a great sports TV. Its excellent contrast and processing deliver serious cinematic chops from your favorite streaming services to 4K HDR Blu-rays. I’m impressed by the screen’s solid brightness reduction, which isn’t as powerful as Samsung’s matte-screen models, but delivers real black levels for my money, adding deep contrast to any room.

It’s also a great TV for watching in large groups: I love its off-axis performance when sitting at an awkward angle to the screen, which is one of the best I’ve ever tested. This is especially useful for larger TVs, allowing the entire crew to move around the screen from any position without any noticeable loss of color or brightness. Little touches like the solar-powered remote and Samsung’s improved Tizen interface make the TV intuitive to use as your daily driver.

If you’re an Olympics fanatic like me and have been waiting to pull the trigger on the new screen, now’s the time for you. The S90F is a great display, especially at a good deal.
