MSNBC’s website is now MS.NOW

Just months after announcing its big name change, MSNBC is getting a new domain with a new name: ms.now. It has essentially the same layout as the old MSNBC website, but with new paint including the new MS Now flag logo – the old MSNBC peacock is gone.

The new website is launching as part of MS Now’s independent newsroom, which began separating from NBC News in October. The divestiture is a result of Comcast’s decision to shut down its cable channels, including MSNBC. With the new domain name and website refresh, MS Now is leaving behind one of its most obvious ties to NBC.

It appears that MS Now has missed the opportunity to get msnow.com, which currently has a mostly empty page referring to “motorized snow vehicles”. Luckily for them, domains with the .now extension went on sale about a year ago.

It is somewhat ironic that MS Now retains the “MS” part of its name, however, given that Microsoft sold its stake in the brand 10 years ago. Of course, this no longer means Microsoft – now it’s “my source for news, opinion and the world.”
