Committee to investigate value for money of taxpayers of leases of properties to members of the royal family

The Public Accounts Committee is to launch an investigation into the Crown Estate and leases granted on properties to members of the royal family following questions over the lease of the Royal Lodge to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

Publishing the Crown Estate and Treasury’s responses to detailed questions on the leasing arrangements, Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, chairman of the committee, said: “Having considered what we have received, the information provided clearly forms the basis for an investigation.” He said that this will happen in the new year.
