‘Monarch’ Season 2 Is Back Next Year, and Bringing King Kong With It

We’ve been waiting a long time to hear more about season two Emperor: Legacy of DemonsApple TV and Legendary’s Excellent “Monsterverse” Spinoff Godzilla The films, after season one, ended in early 2024. Well, good things come to those who wait, including several members of the Russell family acting dynasty and some very large simians.

This morning Apple TV released a new trailer to confirm this King It will return to the streamer on February 27th early next year. Picking up where the first season left off, the show will continue to flash back and forth on the life of Lee Shaw (played by Wyatt Russell as a young Army officer in the 1950s and his father Kurt in the modern day) as he helps two siblings discover their family’s connection to the mysterious titular organization as it attempts to research and combat the rise of titular threats.

Season one ended with a bit of a cliffhanger, with the elder Shaw’s fate in doubt, but Apple confirmed that Kurt Russell will return in season two along with other returning stars Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett, and Anders Holm. But beyond the familiar human faces, there will also be familiar monsters: as well as a cavalcade of strange-looking new creatures, the new trailer also confirmed that season two will bring our heroes to Skull Island, home of King Kong – and of course, Kong will, in his own way, make the island’s new guests feel at home.

It’s no surprise King Season two will include Kong, just as Godzilla himself served as a pervasive presence throughout the season.
