Microsoft is retiring its Office Lens app on iOS and Android

Microsoft is removing its Lens Scanner app from iOS and Android in the coming months. Microsoft Lens, or Office Lens as most people know it, will no longer be supported as of February 9th, and the app will no longer work after March 9th.

Lens’ portable scanner features are instead available in OneDrive, making a dedicated app from Microsoft unnecessary. You’ll still be able to take photos of whiteboards, documents, and receipts, and save and edit them digitally in OneDrive. The pictures can then be converted to Word or PDF documents and cropped and rotated properly.

Microsoft first launched its Office Lens app for iOS and Android in 2015, following its initial availability on Windows Phone. It had unique Office integration and was one of several iOS and Android “mobile-first” apps that Microsoft created a decade earlier.
