Microsoft 365 Outlook down: Microsoft breaks silence on outage

Microsoft 365 services including Outlook experiencing heavy downtime Today. Users have been reporting power cuts since noon on social media and downdetector.

“Users may see degraded service functionality or be unable to access many Microsoft 365 services,” an update on Microsoft’s status page said.

Microsoft now has Issued A more detailed statement on the issue, letting users know they are working on fixing the issue and acknowledging which services are being disrupted.

“We are investigating a potential issue affecting multiple Microsoft 365 services, including Outlook, Microsoft Defender, and Microsoft ParView,” said a statement from Microsoft posted on Twitter.

“We have identified a portion of the service infrastructure in North America that is not processing traffic as expected,” the company said in a follow-up statement. “We are working to restore the infrastructure to a healthy state to achieve recovery.”

Microsoft’s ongoing update details how the company is working to mitigate the issues by restoring affected services.

Microsoft’s last update appears to have fixed the underlying issue, but issues caused by the outage currently persist.

“Although we have restored the affected infrastructure to a healthy state, further load balancing is required to mitigate the impact,” Microsoft said. “We are directing traffic toward alternative infrastructure to achieve recovery.”
