Renegades star Tim Seifert scored his first century of the BBL season, sending the Heat’s bowling cartel to all parts on Monday night as Melbourne finished at 5/212.

It took some time for the Kiwi openers to establish their hold, but after that they scored 102 runs in 56 balls with the help of six sixes and nine fours.

He now already has more than half the runs he scored in his BBL14 campaign, having scored 200 runs in 10 matches last season.

He and Ollie Peake put up a huge partnership, reaching the century mark after just 46 balls, with the young gun being dismissed for 57 runs off 29 balls.

Seifert now joins Aaron Finch as the only Renegades players in BBL history to score a century in Australia’s premier T20 campaign.

Mark Howard said, “Tim Seifert’s century, the second Renegade to complete a century.”

“Yes, it means a little bit.”

Meanwhile, a lot has been seen at the peak with former Australia coach Darren Lehmann making a big announcement.

“I’ve seen enough of this kid to play for Australia,” he said on ABC Grandstand.

Elsewhere, Shaheen Shah Afridi has suffered a nightmare start to his BBL campaign.

The Pakistani superstar was unable to complete his third over, bowling three no balls, while Nathan McSweeney needed to complete his six balls.

Before McSweeney took charge, Afridi had given away 17 runs in four legal balls and was equally given one four and one single.
