Marshall has announced a new version of its stylish Stockwell Bluetooth speaker with a new focus on repairability. The Stockwell III, the brand’s first update to this model since early 2019, features a similar design to its predecessor with a large carrying handle and speakers that pump sound in all directions, not just the front, like the iconic Marshall amps that inspired it. It will be available for purchase starting August 4 through the company’s online store and Costco for $249.99.
Battery life for the Stockwell III has been doubled from 20 hours to over 40, but the overall potential life of the speaker has been extended even further. This advanced battery is now replaceable – a feature Marshall introduced with its Mid ANC wireless headphones last month for which we can potentially thank new EU regulations. Repairability also extends to other parts of the Stockwell III. You can replace its velvet-lined carry strap, front and back grilles with Marshall logo, and a faux-leather textured silicone sleeve that wraps around the entire speaker to keep it protected. This approach not only extends the life of the product, but can also improve resale potential by helping to keep it looking new.
The upgraded battery can also be used as a power bank to charge other devices over USB-C, while the speaker’s waterproof rating has been improved from IPX4 to IP55, so it’s now better suited to survive splashes and prevent dust from getting in. The brass control panel on top of the Stockwell III has been updated with an M-button to switch to a preset sound profile, as well as a dedicated button to control media that can be used to pause, play or skip a track.
