Erling Haaland became the fastest player to join the Premier League 100 goal club when he scored in the 17th minute of Manchester City’s clash with Fulham on Tuesday.
Haaland scored his 100th Premier League goal in his 111th match, breaking Alan Shearer’s long-standing record – Shearer set the record in his 124th match in 1995.
City rivals, Leeds, also represent a special aspect of Haaland’s personal story. The Norway striker was born in Leeds during his father’s three-year stint at the Yorkshire club.
Haaland’s milestone on Saturday is the latest Premier League record he has broken since joining City in July 2022.
Saturday’s strike means he overtook several Premier League greats in the race to 100 goals, including Thierry Henry (141 games), Sergio Aguero (147 games) and Liverpool rival Mohamed Salah (162 games).
However, Haaland still has some work to do to break the Premier League’s final goalscoring record. Shearer is still the league’s all-time top scorer with 260 goals.
