A Maryland man has been arrested after allegedly pointing a gun at three girls who were going door-to-door in the area singing Christmas carols.

Paul Brian Soucy, 58, was arrested on multiple assault-related charges in connection with the incident in Annapolis, MD, over the weekend, Anne Arundel County authorities said in a press release.

According to the press release, law enforcement officers responded to a report of an assault on the evening of Saturday, November 22, and when they arrived, they discovered that three 12-year-old girls were going door-to-door in the area singing Christmas carols.

“Susie, a resident of the area, pointed a gun at them through a window inside her residence,” authorities said.

Court documents obtained by WUSA 9 allege the girls knocked on Susie’s door twice and announced they were Christmas caroling. Susie then came to the bay window of the home and allegedly pointed the gun at the girls, who ran away, documents allege.

The mother of one of the girls called the police to report the incident.

The arresting officer said Susie and his wife were watching TV when the girls knocked on his door, WUSA 9 reports.

In court documents cited by WUSA 9 and WJZ, officers alleged that Susie was intoxicated and “belligerent” at the time of the arrest. He allegedly admitted to pointing the gun at the children.

Police said the gun has been recovered.

Anne Arundel County officials said in their statement that Susi was charged with first- and second-degree assault.

“This is an assault because pointing a handgun at a person is a threat of violence against that person, a threat to their safety,” Anne Arundel County Police spokesman Mark Limanski said, according to WJZ.

The outlet reported that Susi was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond and is expected to return to court in December.
