A 73-year-old man is missing after falling off a Disney Cruise Line ship.
7 News Australia quoted Victoria Police as saying that the incident occurred at around 4:30 a.m. local time on Saturday, November 22, aboard the Disney Wonder ship bound from Melbourne, Australia, to Auckland, New Zealand.
“The man is understood to have died after jumping overboard from a cruise liner in the Tasman Sea,” a police spokesperson told the outlet.
The man’s identity has not been shared publicly.

According to 7 News Australia, the Disney Wonder cruise ship capsized and the crew searched for the missing passenger for about five hours, but they were unable to find him.
Passenger Mitch Talbot told the outlet, “The captain came and updated the boat and basically said there was someone, a passenger had fallen overboard… (but) they were unable to locate them.”
He added, “It was quite sad, and the rest of the day was a bit strange. A lot of the staff took some time off.”

According to 7 News Australia, the missing man was from the northern Melbourne suburb of Moonee Ponds.
Authorities said they are not treating the death as suspicious. A coroner’s report is currently being prepared, WDWNT News Today reports.

The Disney ship is currently continuing its journey to Auckland. According to 7 News Australia, it is now set to reach its destination on Wednesday, November 26, a day behind schedule.
