Man, 31, arrested over Manchester synagogue attack

A man has been arrested at Manchester Airport on suspicion of terrorist crimes over a synagogue attack in the city earlier this year, police have said.

Adrian Dolby and Melvin Kravitz died in the attack on the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on October 2, and three others were treated in hospital for serious injuries.

Greater Manchester Police said a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of committing, preparing and inciting terrorist acts after arriving on an earlier flight.

This arrest takes the total number of people arrested in connection with the attack to seven.

Five of them have been released without charge, but a 30-year-old man arrested on October 9 on suspicion of failing to disclose information under the Terrorism Act is still on bail.

The inquest heard at the start of proceedings last month that Al-Shami ran his car over a security guard outside the synagogue as people were gathering for Yom Kippur, and then attacked Mr Kravitz with a knife before getting out.
