This year’s WWE Survivor Series premium live event will feature a major WarGames match featuring nearly every top star on the men’s roster. As a result, fans can reportedly expect something significant from the celebration.
In the Men’s WarGames match, the team of Roman Reigns, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk and The Usos will try to defeat The Vision. He will go into battle with Brock Lesnar, Logan Paul, Braun Breaker, Bronson Reed and Drew McIntyre.
However, it appears there may be more at stake.
According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, the main event of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas could begin with the main event of this particular show.
Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE is working on several different ideas for the main event, many of which involve Reigns. He said fans should expect clues as to what the direction of the match will be.
Meltzer said, “Monday’s tease was absolutely a tease for the main event. It would make you believe Roman Reigns is challenging Cody Rhodes or Punk.” He said that WWE has made Rhodes and Reigns match twice in WrestleMania, which gave him support for the idea of Punk and Reigns.
Both were part of the triple-threat main event of WrestleMania Saturday last year, in which Seth Rollins teamed with Paul Heyman to win the match.
Could Rollins be an option for Reigns?
Many believed that Rollins and Reigns could be on the table for WrestleMania 42, as their history at this point goes back over 13 years. Rollins was riding high as the leader of The Vision and WWE World Heavyweight Champion, but he suffered a shoulder injury in his match against Rhodes at WWE Crown Jewel, forcing him to undergo a procedure that would sideline him for some time.
In a recent update, Rollins stated that he is hoping to be ready by WrestleMania season, but did not indicate whether he would actually be able to get going in time for WrestleMania.
A few days after Crown Jewel he was eliminated from The Vision when Breaker, Reed and Heyman attacked him and kicked him off television as he addressed his shoulder.
The main event teaser for WrestleMania would line up well with WWE’s recent effort to sell tickets, as it has released a new promo for the show featuring its top women’s division stars, as well as putting individual tickets on sale this week.
