Slott said, “It’s a normal reaction to a player who is good enough to play for us, and I say that lightly because he has been so outstanding for this club for so many years and will continue to be so in the future.”
“He wasn’t the only one who wasn’t happy that he wasn’t starting and that’s normal.”
Slot said that Salah “handled himself really well” despite the disappointment.
“He’s very disciplined – he knows what to do to stay fit,” Slott said.
“No matter whether he plays well or not, whether he plays well or not, he will always be a top professional and he was that way the last two days.
“As with all players around the world, there are stages in your time at the club when they are human beings. He has scored a lot of goals for us and I’m sure he will do so in the future.”
Slott also confirmed that Liverpool will be without Salah from December 15, when he leaves for the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt.
“We’ve got to find a way to play without him because he won’t be here,” Slott said.
Reigning champions Liverpool are eighth in the Premier League and nine points behind leaders Arsenal.
They host sixth-placed Sunderland, who are in the relegation zone, on Wednesday before traveling to Leeds on Saturday.
