The Detroit Lions (7-4) and Green Bay Packers (7-3-1) have announced their injuries ahead of their Week 13 NFC North battle on Thanksgiving Day.
Let’s take a look at the latest injury report and bring you up to date with what we know. Note: Any changes will be from the last injury report bold,
- WR Kalif Raymond (ankle)
- TE Brock Wright (neck)
- C Graham Glasgow (knee)
- Edge Josh Pascal (back, still on NFI)
- S Kerby Joseph (knee)
Raymond injured his ankle in Week 12, and due to the rapid turnaround between games, he could not recover in time for this matchup.
Wright injured his neck in Week 12, and when he returned to the game against the Giants, it was anticipated that he would not practice this week. Look for Ross Dwelley to step into the TE1 role with help from Dan Skipper and Anthony Firkser – who are on the practice squad, but could be promoted or signed before the game.
Glasgow missing out is a huge blow to a unit that had already fallen short to Christian Mahogany. While everyone will certainly be hoping to see Frank Ragno (who is reportedly coming out of retirement to re-sign with the Lions), chances are it will likely be Tristan Colon.
Pascal’s injury evaluation window is now over, and with him being downgraded to no practice the past two days, it’s fair to wonder if the Lions will elect to place him on NFI and end his season or activate him to the 53-man roster. When activated, he will not play in this game with the “out” designation.
Joseph was originally ruled out by coach Dan Campbell on Tuesday, so it was an expected decision. Hopefully he can return to the field soon.
“Give Kerby credit, he’s rehabbing, he’s putting in the work,” Campbell said Tuesday. “He knows that the work he’s doing right now is hopefully going to save us from having to ride up and down on this wave. ‘Okay, he’s back, now he’s not able to go.’ That’s what this is all about, to get man to the point (where) we strengthen some of these; Take some of this, stabilize the muscles in this area, and get him there, ‘Okay, here we go, man.’ This doesn’t mean it will reduce some of the pain, but it will make him feel much better and be more functional. He will be able to produce and be ready for next week.”
- RB Zion Walke (ankle/thumb)
- WR Isaac Tesla (hand)
- RT Penny Sewell (ankle)
- LT Taylor Decker (shoulder)
- RG Tate Ratledge (knee)
- G Miles Frazier (knee, still on PUP)
- EDGE Marcus Davenport (shoulder, still on IR) – day remEngaged in evaluation: 6
- CB Terrion Arnold (concussion)
Walky has had a tough year with regards to injuries, but he has been able to play in the last few games, and hopefully he can continue to contribute on special teams in his current position.
Tesla will be counted on to play a big role this week due to Raymond’s injury. Look for the rookie to see a bump in snaps and hopefully he repeats (or exceeds) his production the last time he played against Green Bay.
Sewell has been dealing with an ankle injury for the past two weeks, but he did not miss a snap last week and is expected to start against the Packers.
Decker has found a way to deal with his shoulder injury and is expected to start at left tackle on Thanksgiving Day.
Ratledge did not miss a snap in Week 12, and while practice is projected to be limited this week, he is expected to start at right guard this Thursday.
Frazier is out days of injury evaluation, meaning the Lions will have to make a decision on his status for the season. It appears he will likely be added to the 53-man roster, and could enter this Thursday’s game, albeit with a questionable designation.
There is still about a week left in Davenport’s injury evaluation window, but Campbell has hinted throughout the week that the edge rusher could return. A suspect designation keeps that window open, and a move could be taken in the coming hours.
Arnold is progressing through the NFL’s concussion protocol this week, but with Campbell not holding a press conference on Wednesday, it’s unclear whether they have cleared him at this time.
Not listed with injury designation
- RB Jacob Sellers (back/knee)
- S. Brian Branch (toe/ankle)
Saylors received a lot of criticism over the past few weeks, but he managed to play despite his injuries and contribute on special teams, especially as a kick returner. With no injuries, he is ready to go.
Branch’s toe injury in Week 11 persisted into this week, and added to his toe injury in Week 12, yet it does not appear that either injury will limit him in this game. It should be good for him to go.
