LinkedIn is launching an AI-powered search feature that allows you to find people by telling them who you’re looking for. Now, instead of searching for the exact name, job title, or company, you can enter a more descriptive search, like “Northwestern alumni who work in entertainment marketing,” or even ask a question, like “Who can help me understand the US work visa system?”
From there, LinkedIn will use AI to surface the best matches for your query. Rohan Rajeev, senior director of product management at LinkedIn, explains The Verge This platform will rank results based on your connection to someone as well as their relevance to your search.
LinkedIn launched AI-augmented job search in May, letting people search for job opportunities by describing their ideal career. Expanding AI into people search will make it much easier to find someone who can help you with a particular task, or if you’re looking for potential connections in an area that interests you.
LinkedIn is rolling out AI-powered people search for premium users in the US today, but the platform plans to bring it to all users soon.
