Light snow mix to rain Sunday across south-central Pennsylvania

Rain with light snow to fall across south-central Pennsylvania on Sunday

Sunday’s system is weak and does not bring much due to the entry of dry air into the incoming storm system. We are keeping a close eye on the potential for a significant winter storm on Tuesday.

At ALDI nationwide. Well, with it being so cold outside, it already feels like the holiday season is here, but Ryan has a feeling it may be starting to feel even more like the holidays outside. In a few days. I guess I would say a little celebratory. Or a little I guess. Yes, a little seasonal. Seasonal, snowy. Yes, something like that. Something like this. Now we are looking into this more. So anyway for Tuesday. So there are still a few days to go before we even see the chance of some snowfall. We have a chance to bring you a wintry mix tomorrow Sunday morning and then finally get some rain showers during the day. Now we’ve left it as an impressive day for your Sunday as it’s still a big travel weekend. We still have people who are coming home from Thanksgiving celebrations. And so if you’re traveling in this weather tomorrow, you’re going to have to be prepared and just be aware of some potential slow spots that may develop as we have a wintry mix and rain starting to move in, a brisk and cold start to the workweek as we head into our Monday. Then we’re keeping our eye on a potential winter storm for Tuesday. Already looking ahead, we’ve got an impressive day ahead as we’re expecting a mix of rain and snow. Still trying to iron out those details, but let’s talk about that in a few minutes here. 40 degrees. Today we got 49 degrees at Harrisburg International Airport. That’s what we expect this time of year. So we’re about ten degrees below average for this time of year. This morning, our minimum temperature has reached 28 degrees. The temperature is generally expected to be around 32 degrees. No precipitation was recorded at Harrisburg International. So overnight, it is expected to remain mostly cloudy. Fast and cool. Temperatures are going to feel breezy and cool into the low 30s. And tomorrow morning hopefully the impact period will begin as we get closer to 6:00 am. As for that snow and rain mix, especially if you’re north and west of I-81, that’s when you’ll see better or higher chances of seeing that snow and wintry mix. Now, if you’re further south, I’d say south and east of I-81, you’re going to see more of a wintry mix for rain. So just with that in mind, starting tomorrow morning and then afternoon to 5:00 pm, that’s when we’ll start to see a change in rain showers over some locations. And they will remain isolated in nature. I’m going to show you in the predictor why I call isolated temperatures in the 30s right now, 29 degrees in Lancaster, winds will start to pick up as we get to Sunday morning. And finally Sunday afternoon. Here the storm team is watching on the live radar network as some upper level snow has started to fall. But I didn’t find anything. I have not received any reports of snowfall from our remote northwestern communities. So I believe it is Virgo that is starting to pass over the valley at this time. Now we are under high pressure to move out of the area. So it will be associated with dry air as the morning approaches. That dry air doesn’t like humidity, right? Therefore, as Sunday morning approaches, the moisture is drying up. So we could also see isolated spots of light snowfall and a wintry mix for remote northwestern communities. You see some pink color there. We’re right here, so that’s why we’re saying we could see a wintry mix, especially at the higher elevations. Now, as we get into the afternoon, you can see the rain starting to change later in the morning, then into the afternoon. And then as we get into late Sunday we can expect to see some isolated rain showers. So then as we get into Monday morning, we have some brief high pressure buildup. This will help clear up our skies, keeping us mostly partly sunny. However we can see that we have some northwesterly flow. We may be keeping an eye on any potential blizzards coming from the Great Lakes and moisture coming from the lakes. This may generate some of those storms. Now, looking ahead to Tuesday, everyone is asking us, what’s our snow looking like on Tuesday? We are keeping an eye on this. We believe there is a very high chance of precipitation from Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening. There will be snow for most. I’m sorry for most or most areas, I must say the highest snowfall potential at this time is north and west of I-81. So what to expect? Slow travel Tuesday morning, with possibly minor accumulations. Here are some details on what to expect and when. It is snowing on Tuesday morning. With that slight change to rain in some areas for Tuesday afternoon, minor accumulations are possible during the day. But we are still trying to come up with the exact details and exact track when it comes to this system. A higher confidence in terms of snowfall accumulation for your morning commute. That’s why we’ve chosen this as an Impact Day for your Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday next week. Looks like we’re in the upper 30s and low 40s

There will be a little wind with northwest winds around 10 to 15 mph. The News 8 Storm Team is tracking the possibility of a winter storm Tuesday. It is becoming more likely that a winter storm will move into the Mid-Atlantic. We have made it an impact day. Based on the track of the system, this will be the first snow accumulation of the season. Some parts of the region will receive mainly snowfall while other areas may receive mixed or moderate rain. The track of the storm will determine where the rain/snow line sets up and where snow accumulates. It’s still too early for snow totals as models remain very variable, but plowable snow is a possibility for some. Stay tuned for updates later this week. Temperatures will remain below average throughout the next week into early December. On most days, the maximum temperature will be around 40°, while the minimum temperature will be between 20° to 30°. The next chance for rain or snow is Saturday. Have a nice night!~Ryan
