As NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports, Murray is eligible to return from injured reserve Week 14, but he has not fully recovered from his medial foot sprain and is unlikely to be activated before next Sunday’s game against the Rams.
According to Rapoport, the Cardinals anticipated Murray would be 100 percent healthy after a four-week stay on IR, but the signal-caller apparently hasn’t responded as well to the extended rest as the team believed he would. Jacoby Brissett thus appears set to retain the starting job in Week 14, and considering how well Brissett has performed over the past several weeks, the Cardinals may not have much motivation to re-insert Murray. Murray is guaranteed $36.8 million for the 2026 season, and if he remains on the roster through March 16, Arizona will be owed an additional $19.5 million in salary for 2027.
