It’s official. Kathleen Kennedy is leaving Lucasfilm. And, speaking about the decision in a new interview, the creator offered updates on several star wars Movies that may or may not come in the future.

Kennedy told Deadline, “Jim Mangold and Beau Willimon wrote an incredible script, but it’s definitely breaking the mold, and it holds up.” “Taika [Waititi] A script has been created that I think is hilarious and great. It’s just not my decision, especially after I’ve just stepped out the door. Donald Glover has written a script. And as you’ve read, Steve Soderbergh and Adam Driver produced a script written by Scott Burns. It was a good one. If one is willing to take a risk, anything is possible.”

The Mangold-Willimon script is dawn of the jedi the idea that was first announced star wars Celebration in 2023. The Taika Waititi film is a Lucasfilm one that was announced in 2020, and Glover’s script is about Lando and was first discussed in late 2023. As far as Soderbergh and Driver are concerned, well, we know.

Strangely, the two films Kennedy didn’t mention are the Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy Ray film and the Dave Filoni film. heir to the empire The films were both announced for 2023, along with Mangold’s film. This is very, very discouraging.

More encouraging is what he had to say about Simon Kinberg’s new trilogy, which is being reworked but still moving forward. “[Kinberg] Working right now,” Kennedy said. “He wrote something that we read in August, and it was great, but not there. We changed the story substantially, and then spent a lot of time on the treatment, which they finished about four weeks ago. And it’s a very detailed account, like 70 pages. And so hopefully he’ll give us something in March.”

with The Mandalorian and Grogu coming this year, and Star Wars: Starfighter (Kennedy says this was a standalone movie, but could potentially be spun off) What movie is coming out next year? It may no longer be Kennedy’s call, but there are additional considerations. “Mangold, like Soderbergh, is really on the back burner,” he said. “I think Taika and Donald’s creations are still alive to some extent. It’s really up to the new team to figure out. I know this [new Lucasfilm heads] dave [Filoni] and Linwen [Brennan] They are completely on board with what Simon is doing and it will be a new trilogy. In the timeline of things, this takes you to 2030 plus. So what’s really going to happen next.”

It looks like this is good news for fans of Taika Waititi and Donald Glover, but bad news for fans of James Mangold and Rey Skywalker. What do you understand by quotes?
