Julie Chrisley is reflecting on reports that Ghislaine Maxwell is receiving special treatment in prison after her time behind bars.

The 52-year-old former reality star was incarcerated at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Lexington for 28 months, while Maxwell, a convicted sex trafficker and associate of Jeffrey Epstein, is serving a 20-year sentence at the federal prison Camp Bryan in Texas – a minimum-security prison camp where she was transferred in August.

Earlier this month, Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee revealed that a whistleblower claimed Maxwell, 63, was getting “concierge-style” treatment, including being allowed to use the exercise area after hours, customized meals, time to spend with puppies trained to be service dogs, and more.

Julie and her husband Todd Chrisley recently sat down for an interview with Fox News Digital, during which they expressed skepticism about Maxwell’s claims of special treatment.

“I don’t really pay much attention to those things,” Julie said. “Listen, toilet paper definitely – I’ve seen it. I’ve been there. I know that can be a situation.”

“So if she gets all the toilet paper she wants, I’m very grateful for that,” she added. “I want all women to have as much toilet paper as they need.”

Julie continued, “You know, when we went there there were weird stories that I was getting food and specials of lobster and steak.” “No, I never had a bite or morsel of outside food. So I just take it with a grain of salt like people do – everyone should eat.”

Julie has denied that she was given any special treatment in prison because of her celebrity status. However, Todd had previously alleged that he received better treatment than black prisoners due to racial prejudice.

“Being in the prison system, whoever says it’s a fair shock — it’s not,” he said during a press conference in May, via Entertainment Weekly. “Because in the prison I was in, young African-American men were not treated equally.”

“They were denied programming. They were denied access to certain things,” Todd said. “I wasn’t denied it, but we know why I wasn’t denied it. And so I think that’s a much bigger picture that we all need to look at as a society: that we are one.”

During their recent interview with Fox News Digital, Todd and Julie reflected on the most challenging and rewarding parts of rebuilding their lives externally.

“I think we have a different answer to that because I don’t really see a lot of challenges,” Todd said.

“I absolutely see the challenges,” Julie admitted. “Just have to start over. I mean, nobody likes the idea of starting over. I don’t think I’m any better than anyone else at doing it. And I’m grateful to be able to do it. But it’s hard.”

She added, “And the time I missed with my husband, with my family, with my kids, I can’t get back.” “But I also can’t live life looking backward. I have to move forward.”

Todd explained, “I’m not facing too many challenges. I have a very clear idea of who I am and what I want in life.” “God has been very good to us and has opened a lot of doors for us and continues to do so. And I feel like this is as crazy as it will sound — I can’t say that I would go back and change these last 28 months.

“And I missed my wife, I missed my kids,” he added. “But I feel like God put me in a place where He knew I needed to help people who don’t have a voice. And it’s been such a blessing because as of yesterday, I’m up to 68 people that I’ve helped bring home sooner than I calculated.”

Since his release from prison, Todd has become an outspoken advocate for criminal justice and prison reform, focusing on helping other prisoners secure early release and fair treatment.

In July, Todd and Julie launched their podcast “Chrisley Confessions 2.0”, a new version of the couple’s faith and family-focused podcast “Chrisley Confessions”. In contrast to the more light-hearted banter that marked the couple’s previous podcasts, “Chrisley Confessions” focuses on discussion of prison conditions, justice reform, and faith-based treatment.

Through podcasts, media appearances, and partnerships with faith-based reentry groups, Todd has worked to raise awareness, support clemency petitions, and promote second chances for prisoners.

Speaking with Fox News Digital, Todd and Julie shared their thoughts on how they have changed since being in prison.

“I changed my thought process,” Todd said. “I still live the same way I always have. I still have the same grooming patterns and the same things. What I mean when I say I’ve changed is, I’ve opened up and expanded my mind and heart to people I never had the opportunity to meet before.”

“Sure,” Julie agreed.

She also revealed that the couple’s priorities had changed during the months they spent behind bars.

“Before we go in, I think we would say that our needs were very different from what we say our needs are today,” he said. “You learn that a lot of the things you think you should have, you really don’t have. And that’s not really where you find your peace or happiness.”

“Now that hasn’t stopped them from still wanting those things,” Todd said.

“Oh, not at all,” Julie said, smiling.

Todd and Julie also told Fox News Digital that their approach to parenting has “absolutely” changed. The couple, married since 1996, have sons Chase, 29, and Grayson, 19, and daughter Savannah, 28. Todd is also father to daughter Lindsie and son Kyle, whom he shares with his ex-wife Teresa Terry.

“I think our kids have grown up,” Julie said. “They were forced to grow up while we were gone. And I think it makes you give up some control and realize that you know what, they’re going to be OK. You know, they survived it. And I think it’s a good thing that it happened.”

“I guess it wasn’t a bad thing that they had to grow up,” he said.

Todd admitted, “I don’t know that I would have ever been able to let go unless I was forced to let go.” “And now I look at my adult children in a different light.”
